1. We Are The Club For MGs
The MG Car Club has been established for over 80 years. We have the experience and know-how to help you make the most of owning and running an MG. We are a non for profit organisation, run by members for members.
2. Technical Help Through Our Registers
The MG Car Club operates sixteen ‘registers’, one for each model of MG. Each register caters for the direct needs of that model and offers a vast technical insight. The registers have been established to provide a wide range of benefits and specialist knowledge to their members. Registers organise their own events and activities whilst also taking part in all the major MG Car Club events.They publish newsletters and articles in the club magazine Safety Fast! allowing members to keep up to date with news, views and helpful hints and tips. Simply put, our register are a shoulder for you to lean on! Register membership is free for all MG Car Club members.
3. Safety Fast! Magazine
Safety Fast! is our 100 page, full colour, perfect bound monthly magazine which forms an integral part of club membership. The publication was established in April 1959 and has consistently provided members of the club with an unprecedented insight into everything MG. Includes a full spectrum of latest news, technical, historical and racing articles along with a comprehensive round up from each register and centre. It’s widely considered the world’s best MG magazine and is enjoyed by enthusiasts in every corner of the globe.
4. An extensive range of diverse activities!
The key to getting value from your membership of the club is to become involved in the activities we pursue. Our Club magazine, Safety Fast!, provides good value for money for your membership subscription, but there is much more going on within the club and plenty of scope for every member to take part in enjoyable activities. Like most things in life, you only get out what you put in. The MG Car Club is involved in hundreds of activities throughout the year.
5. Twelve Regional Centres
Twelve Regional Centres organise events and social gatherings throughout the UK. Each centre organises Pub Meets and events throughout the course of the year. Membership to your local centre is free when you join the MG Car Club.
6. Heritage
The MG Car Club is based in Abingdon – the spiritual home of MG. The Club was formed by the factory in 1930 and we still have very close links to previous MG staff. Furthermore, we are one of the world’s oldest Car Clubs and have a scintillating eighty year history which means we have the knowledge and experience to help you.
7. Save On Your Insurance Policy
The Peter Best Abingdon Policy is exclusive to members of the MG Car Club, a particularly low risk group which generates a very low rate of claims. You must to be a member of the Club to qualify for this group scheme. In general, our members report that they get the most attractive premium quoted under this arrangement. 8. Trade Membership Scheme
The MG Car Club Trade Membership Scheme, was introduced to ensure that Club members gain access to the very best services on offer. The MG Car Club does not deal in spares or services and relies on a number of companies to provide members with what they need – whatever it is – wherever they live. The companies and businesses listed in this directory have all agreed to support and promote the MG Car Club in addition to providing a high quality service. Many of the Traders in the scheme offer exclusive discounts to MG Car Club members.
9. MGLive!
The MG Car Club organises MGLive!, the biggest and best event for all MG owners and enthusiasts. Located at the home of British Motorsport, Silverstone Circuit, no other UK car show offers so much. This is the World’s biggest MG gathering! Expect to see 5,000 cars across the weekend, if you love MG then you won’t want to miss it. 10. Motorsport
The marque MG has, since it’s inception, been synonymous with Motorsport with virtually every model ever produced having been driven in some form of motoring competition.
Whether it’s Racing, Rallying, Hill Climbing, Trials, Track days or some other test of speed, endurance or agility, a look through the record books will regularly turn up the name MG in the results. The MGCC has long had it’s own competitions department to run championships and meetings in all forms of the sport, specifically for the enjoyment of it’s members and to encourage and assist those MG owners taking their first steps into this arena.
